Tesla Powerwall 3

The battery everyone knows, now with the inverter inside.

Powerwall 3 puts a 13.5 kWh battery and a solar inverter in one sealed unit, so your panels plug straight into it. Pair it with Tesla's Backup Gateway 2 and the house keeps running when the grid drops out.

Why we fit Tesla

One sealed box, one beautiful app.

Powerwall 3 does the job of a solar inverter and a battery in one slim, IP67 unit, so there's no separate inverter on the wall. It takes up to 20 kW of solar across three MPPTs, and it can start heavy loads like a pump or a split system.

The Tesla app shows your solar, battery and home live, and sets the backup reserve in a few taps. We see the system too, so a fault alert comes to us.

  • Up to 11.04 kW of continuous power from one unit
  • Add up to three Expansions for 54 kWh
  • Whole home backup with Backup Gateway 2

Straight answers

Questions we get asked.

Something not here? Ring or text 0468 179 539 any hour and ask.

Powerwall 2 or Powerwall 3?

We install Powerwall 3. Powerwall 2 has been replaced, is not eligible for the federal battery rebate, and some units sold between November 2020 and August 2025 were recalled. If you already have one, ring us and we'll check it for you.

Does it need the internet?

For the full 10 year warranty, yes: Tesla needs it online and registered, otherwise the cover can drop to 4 years. We connect it on install day.

Will it back up my whole house?

With Backup Gateway 2, yes, on a single phase home. Powerwall 3 is a single phase battery, so on a three phase home it backs up one phase. We'll tell you what that means for your switchboard.

Can I add more later?

Yes. Up to three Expansion units go behind one Powerwall 3, for 54 kWh. One thing to know: with Expansions fitted, charging is limited to 5 kW until Tesla's promised firmware update arrives.

Will it get the federal battery rebate?

We confirm the exact battery against the approved list on your quote, and the designer prices the rebate for your install date. The rebate steps down on 1 January.
