FAQ

Every question, answered straight.

How the online quote works, what the inspection is for, which rebates apply and what happens on the day.

The online quote

How can you price a system without seeing my house?

We read your roof from the current aerial photo and lay the panels out on it, then price the system from our own costs and your answers about the roof, storeys and power supply. That is enough for a real figure. The site inspection then checks the switchboard, meter and access, and confirms the price before anything is signed.

Is the online price what I will pay?

It is an indicative price, GST included, with certificates and rebates shown as separate lines. It assumes a straightforward install. If the inspection finds something different, such as a switchboard upgrade or extra cabling, we tell you what changed and why before you decide. You are not bound by the online figure and neither are we until a contract is signed.

What if the tool cannot read my roof?

Some addresses have no roof data yet, and some roofs are hard to read from above. In both cases we offer to check your roof by hand: leave your name, phone and email and we email you a layout and price within one business day. You can also place panels on the photo yourself and keep going.

Can I change the design?

Yes. Tap a roof face to fill it, tap a panel to take it off, tap bare roof to add one, and drag the ones you placed. Add a battery and change its size. The panel count, system size and yearly generation update as you go, and the price is recalculated when you ask for it.

Why do you ask for my details before showing the price?

So the quote is saved against your address and you can come back to it, and so the installer who inspects the house has the design in front of them. We use your details to contact you about this quote only, unless you tick the separate box asking for occasional emails.

Which areas do you cover?

Melbourne, Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo and other Victorian centres where the roof data is available. The tool checks your address first. Addresses outside the data are offered the hand check, and there are a few shires we do not install in, which the tool tells you straight away.

Rebates and batteries

Which rebates are included?

Small scale technology certificates under the federal scheme come straight off the price. Eligible batteries attract the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program. Solar Victoria rebates and loans apply where the household qualifies. Each is shown as its own line with its conditions, and we lodge the paperwork for you once you go ahead.

Do I need a battery?

Not always. A battery stores the day's solar for the evening and can keep essential circuits running in a blackout, depending on the system. If you use most of your power after dark it is worth adding one in the tool and comparing the two prices. If you already have solar, a battery alone can be quoted the same way.

Can I add a battery later?

Yes. Some inverters are battery ready and some batteries carry their own inverter, so a later addition is usually straightforward. Tell the installer at the inspection that you may add one, and the system is set up with that in mind.

The inspection and the install

What happens at the site inspection?

A licensed electrician or accredited installer visits, looks at the roof, the switchboard, the meter and the cable runs, and checks the design against the house. They confirm the price or explain any change. The visit is free, takes well under an hour, and you are under no obligation afterwards.

Who does the installation?

Our own CEC-accredited electricians, with trusted subcontractors when we are busy. Either way we are responsible for the job, the finished system is checked by an independent licensed electrical inspector, and we support it afterwards. The installer's details are on your contract.

How long does an install take?

Most residential solar installs are done in a day. A solar and battery system can take a day to two. The date is set after the inspection and confirmed in writing, and you get the installer's name with it.

What warranties apply?

Panels, inverters and batteries carry their manufacturers' warranties, which we state on your quote and contract. Panels in every tier carry a 25 year warranty. Our own workmanship warranty is set out in the contract. Warranty summaries on this site follow the manufacturers' published terms and can change.

What if something goes wrong after the install?

Every system is set up on monitoring, so faults are seen and dealt with. Call or email us any hour and the message is answered. Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, on top of the manufacturers' warranties.
