SolarEdge has pulled out of Australia. What owners can do now

SolarEdge is closing its Australian sales and support. Your system keeps running and the warranty still applies. Here is what changes and what to do this week.

SolarEdge is closing its sales and operations in Australia and New Zealand. If there is a SolarEdge inverter on your wall, it keeps working, the app keeps working and SolarEdge says your warranty still applies. The thing that has changed is the support behind it, which now sits overseas. Ten minutes of housekeeping this week will make life much easier if something ever goes wrong.

What we know, and where it comes from

SolarEdge told its Australian installers in the first days of November 2026. It has not put out a public statement that we could find, and when we checked its Australian website on 6 November 2026 there was no notice on it. So everything below comes from the trade press and from installers who got the notice. We read these on 6 November 2026.

  • SolarEdge is ending direct local sales and operations in Australia and New Zealand
  • final orders close on 20 November 2026, and the last deliveries are due by 18 December 2026
  • product certification renewals, promotions and programs stop
  • service and support move to SolarEdge's International Tech Centre
  • eligible products stay covered by the SolarEdge warranty, under the terms they were sold with

SolarQuotes reports that the Australian staff have been let go, as far as it understands, and that SolarEdge did not answer its questions. It has taken SolarEdge off its list of recommended brands.

This is an exit, not a collapse

SolarEdge has not gone broke. It is a global company that has decided Australia is no longer worth the effort. That is a real difference for owners. When an installer is wound up, its promises go with it. When a maker leaves a country but keeps trading, the warranty is still a promise from a company that exists.

It is also not the first this year. SMA, the German inverter maker, left the Australian home and business market earlier in 2026. Its chief executive told RenewEconomy in June that the company could not match the cost of its Chinese rivals.

What a SolarEdge system is, in one paragraph

Most solar systems have panels wired together in strings that feed one inverter. A SolarEdge system adds a small box, called an optimiser, under every panel. The optimisers let each panel work on its own, which helps on shaded roofs, and they give you panel by panel monitoring in the mySolarEdge app. The catch is that the optimisers only work with a SolarEdge inverter. That did not matter much while SolarEdge had an office here. It matters more now.

Seven things to do this week

  1. Dig out the paperwork. Your invoice, the warranty documents, any paid warranty extension and the Certificate of Electrical Safety. Photograph them.
  2. Photograph the inverter label. You want the model and the serial number, clear enough to read.
  3. Log in to mySolarEdge yourself. If the account was set up under your installer's email, ask them to move it to yours.
  4. Check the warranty. SolarEdge's website has a warranty check by serial number. Screenshot the answer and the date.
  5. Save the support details. SolarEdge lists 1800 465 567 and customercareaustralia@solaredge.com for Australian owners.
  6. Find out if your installer is still trading. They are your first call for a fault, and under Australian Consumer Law the business on your invoice is still responsible for what it sold you.
  7. Look at the app once a month. A fault you spot in a week is a much easier claim than one you spot at the next power bill.

If something goes wrong

Ring the business that sold you the system. If it has closed, go to SolarEdge directly with your serial number, the error code and your invoice, and ask for a case number. Any licensed electrician who works on solar can test the system and tell you whether the fault is in the inverter, an optimiser or the wiring. Ask who pays for the labour before the work starts.

We go through the warranty in more detail in is my SolarEdge warranty still good?. If your installer has closed too, see what to do when a solar installer closes.

Do you need to replace it?

No. A working SolarEdge system does not need replacing because the maker has left. Anyone who tells you otherwise this month is selling something.

The time to think again is when you were going to change the system anyway. If you are adding a battery, you do not need a SolarEdge one. A battery with its own inverter can sit beside the system you have. And if the inverter fails out of warranty one day, that is the point to weigh up a new inverter against a new system, because moving to another brand means the optimisers come off the roof.

Where we stand

We do not repair or take over systems that other companies installed, SolarEdge or otherwise, so we are not the people to ring about a fault. What we do is new solar and batteries around Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo. If you are ready for a battery, or your old system has reached the end of the road, you can design a system on your own roof and see the installed price with no sales visit.

Questions

Is SolarEdge still in Australia?

It is winding down. Final orders close on 20 November 2026, the last deliveries are due by 18 December 2026, and support has moved to its international centre.

Is my SolarEdge warranty cancelled?

No. SolarEdge says eligible products stay covered under their warranty terms, and Australian Consumer Law protections apply as well.

Will the mySolarEdge app keep working?

Nothing reported so far says it will stop. Make sure the account is in your own name.

Who fixes a SolarEdge system now?

Your installer first, then SolarEdge for a product fault. Any licensed electrician who works on solar can check the system.
